Anamoe was back in a big way on Saturday at Royal Randwick, winning the debut Group 1 of the season, the Winx Stakes. The 4-year-old horse is a Group 1 winner at 2, 3 and now 4. We take a closer look at the recipe for such great success.
THE 2022 WINX STAKES BELONGS TO ANAMOE!

By Darley stallion Street Boss, who currently stands for $77,000 at their Kelvinside property. Street Boss, an American bred, won 7 of his 13 career starts including 5 in a row at the age of 4 – it’s no surprises to see his progeny continue to shine at 4 as well. His progeny have been fairly successful on the big stage, including Group 1 winners Elite Street and The Quarterback, with Godolphin coming oh so close with Hanseatic in the Blue Diamond. There’s no denying Anamoe is certainly his best progeny yet. A total of 17 Street Boss yearlings were sold around Australia this year at an average price of $152,000. This included a filly by Duporth mare Tizso Wicked that Ciaron Maher Racing and Astute Bloodstock paid $360,000 for.

Anamoe is out of Redoute’s Choice mare Anamato who herself was a Group 3 winner at 2, Group 1 winner at 3 and Group 1 placed at 4. It’s certainly no surprise to see Anamoe following in his mother’s footsteps. Anamba is the second most successful progeny of Anamato, winning the Listed Owenstown Stud Stakes in Ireland in 2016. Segenhoe Stud had another daughter of Anamato for sale at the Magic Millions 2019 National Broodmare Sale but was passed in for $460,000.
Our very own Boss Queen (Street Boss x Echo Queen) is due to have her second jumpout of the preparation tomorrow and we can’t wait to get her back to the races. We purchased the debut winning mare earlier this year in partnership with Ciaron Maher Racing and co-trainer David Eustace remains in the ownership.
Not long now until #BossQueen is back at the races and piercing through gaps like she did on debut! 😍

Little known stallion, Good Journey is our Stallion Of The Week after siring Themoonlitegambler to win at Moonee Valley and Yuri Royale at Murray Bridge on Saturday. Like Street Boss, Good Journey is American bred that began shuttling in 2017 between California’s Magali Farms and Australia and, in 2008, Good Journey switched to South Australia’s Lindsay Park Stud (now Cornerstone Stud). As a racehorse, Good Journey won the Group 1 Woodbine Mile in the USA and is the half-brother to Champion Sprinter, the triple Group 1 winner Aldebaran.
In Australia, he would be most well known for siring multiple Group 1 winning Happy Trails. His Group 1 successes came in the 2012 Emirates Stakes, 2013 Turnbull Stakes and the 2014 Longines Mackinnon Stakes.
Trainer David Brideoake has had great success with the stallion and he now lives in retirement at his property, Roycevale Farm. The success came first with a daughter of Good Journey, Grand Journey, who won the Western Australian Oaks and Derby. Following that success, David sent his broodmare Grand Strategy to Good Journey, producing a foal named Griante who he trained. Griante won two Group 3 races before her biggest success, a victory in the Group 1 The Galaxy at Rosehill in 2016.
Stunning win by Victorian mare Griante for @CWilliamsJockey & @brideoakeracing in the Group 1 Galaxy!
