Vancouver x Sheer Style (Filly)

Read all about the pedigree behind our exciting Vancouver x Sheer Style filly by Bloodstock Journalist, Jackson Frantz

Race this compact, well conformed Vancouver x Sheer Style filly with The Mail Bag to be prepared by reigning Victorian Premiership winning trainers Ciaron Maher and David Eustace.

Secured for $55,000 at the recent Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale with Dave Mee’s Pinhook Bloodstock (FBAA), this bargain filly has all the attributes to make it as an early running type that will train on at three and beyond.

A beautiful mover with a lovely temperament, good head and kind eye, Lot 982 is arguably the value buy of the Sale, with her strong shoulder, deep girth, good hip and athletic hindquarters being everything we look for in a yearling.

Another key factor that saw us land on this filly was the tick of approval from out vet, who confirmed her to be a low risk, scope one that had ‘big clean airways’.

Not only is our filly a lovely type, her pedigree is continuing blossom by the day, with her unbeaten 2015 Group 1 Golden Slipper-winning sire Vancouver, responsible for last Saturday’s Group 2 Expressway Stakes hero Overpass and fellow Group 2 winners Vangelic and Yaletown.

Standing at Coolmore Stud for $22,000 (inc GST), Vancouver, the best son of world class sire Medaglia d’Oro is continuing to cement himself as one of the most exciting young stallions in the land, with his yearlings selling up to $450,000 in 2022 and averaging just shy of $77,000 last year.

With just three-crops having hit the racetrack to date, Vancouver still has plenty more high-class gallopers waiting in the wings while still sitting 38th overall on the General Sire Standings, with 34 winners from 110 runners this season.

To complement our filly’s burgeoning sire is the strength of her pedigree on the dam side, being out of the three-time winning Snitzel mare, Sheer Style, who took out the Ballarat Magic Millions Clockwise 2YO Classic at her third career start before finishing third in the Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic as an odds-on favourite.

From a family full of early speed, Sheer Style, herself is a half-sister to the Group 3 Kindergarten Stakes fourth placegetter Magic Diamond.

Make sure you don’t miss out on this opportunity to race a quality filly with us at an affordable price, particularly with the strength of the current market for fillies and broodmares, with the average price of a filly at the Gold Coast Sale increasing 23.36 per cent on last year.
