There were two horses in the January Inglis Digital catalogue that we were extremely keen to join the Mailbag Bloodstock stable, one was Katsu (sold out) and the other was this horse, WHITE BEAR. We were very excited to secure him at just $55,000 fall of hammer, a 2-time winner from just 11 starts, with a combined margin of 12 lengths from those 2 victories.
WHITE BEAR is a 5YO gelding by Shamexpress out of the Group 3 placed Angelica Hall. He is a half-brother to 7-time and multiple Listed winner, Angelic Miss as well as 5-time winner Supreme Khan and a very promising filly in New Zealand, Sabrina Hall.
As mentioned above, WHITE BEAR has had just 11 career starts, for 2 wins and 3 placings. He broke his maiden in dominant style by a margin of 7 lengths and followed this up with a BM64 win, again destroying his rivals by 5 lengths. Since then, he has contested 4 Saturday races in Melbourne, never beaten far and starting an average starting price of $3.90. Before he was listed online for sale, he had two runs in his most recent preparation, kicking off with a 0.8 length defeat to Call Him Iggy, who has since been narrowly defeated at Geelong in a $80,000 BM70 and Sandown in a $55,000 BM70. His most recent start he was not beaten far by Harry’s Yacht (who hasn’t raced since), Written Bligh who has won two races since (both $55,000 Wednesday races) and American Liaison who has also won two races since ($40,000 race at Cranbourne and $60,000 race at Sale).
With a Victorian rating of just 65, he would carry 60.5kg in a BM64 – the same grade that he won by 5 lengths. We anticipate he will kick-off in this grade and all going well, should be knocking one of these off before he heads to Wednesday and Saturday races in Melbourne, for very strong prize-money.
We are thrilled to have WHITE BEAR trained by the Victorian Trainer Premiership leading trio of Ben, Will & JD Hayes at Lindsay Park Racing. They are currently striking at 16.2% for the season, with 124 winners since August and over $11 million in prize-money. Their facilities at Lindsay Park Euroa are second to none and each horse that is trained there, gets every opportunity with what they have at their disposal.
WHITE BEAR is currently enjoying a break at King’s Park on the Mornington Peninsula and after a few weeks in the paddock there, will be ready to begin pre-training with Caroline Price at Advika Park. We have had great success with our horses that have gone through the pre-training program at Advika Park and they all leave after a month with Caroline looking outstanding! From there, he will head to Lindsay Park to commence full-training with Ben, Will & JD.
