Shane ‘Curly’ Ciurleo has called SUISSE SCANDAL possibly his GREATEST value buy…
We have purchased a 3-year-old son of SWISS ACE called SUISSE SCANDAL from Aquis Farm and he looks outstanding value. Purchased for just $12,000 fall of hammer, this horse will head to MARK CURRIE in Toowoomba and will be racing for maidens that offer $13,000 to the winner.
SUISSE SCANDAL is by SWISS ACE, a fantastic sire standing in New Zealand. A winner of the GROUP 1 Oakleigh Plate himself, SWISS ACE has produced some great GROUP QUALITY sprinters and milers including GROUP 1 Railway Stakes winner JULIUS, Singapore GROUP 2 Stewards Cup winner MR MALEK and more. As a sire, his winners to runners strike-rate is 67% and he is the sire of 35 black type horses.
Purchased originally from the 2021 NZB Ready To Run Sale, SUISSE SCANDAL breezed up over 200m in a very quick time of 10.68. To put this in perspective, SHARP ‘N’ SMART who finished 4th in the GROUP 1 JJ Atkins this year, breezed up in 11.19. LAMMER who was sold at the same sale as SUISSE SCANDAL for $348,000, breezed up in 11.22. The NZB Ready To Run Sale has produced some outstanding horses including Hong Kong hero Golden Sixty, Derby winner Asterix, Te Akau Shark, Beat the Clock, Vin De Dance, Gingernuts and Mongolian Khan.
Shane Ciurleo has a great relationship with the team at Aquis Farm and Kacy Fogden, one of the main factors in why we buy a lot of horses through them. We have an 100% winners to runners strike-rate with horses we have bought from Aquis, including ACOTANGO and MAJORELLE who both won in their first preparations. SUISSE SCANDAL has had two trials and pulled up shin sore after both so was sent for a spell at Hinterland Thoroughbreds. He will have a couple more weeks out in the paddock before we bring him back into work.
Pictured below is SUISSE SCANDAL at Hinterland Thoroughbreds just the other day, looking fantastic!
SUISSE SCANDAL will head to MARK CURRIE in Toowoomba, a trainer that is absolutely flying at the moment with 23.7% winners to runners this season so far. All it would take is a win in a Toowoomba maiden that pays $13,100 to the winner to get our purchase price back.
