This DUNDEEL gelding rated as an ELITE WALKER and was a TOP breeze-up at the sales

In conjunction with Gavin Bedggood, we have purchased this cracking DUNDEEL gelding out of EXCEED AND EXCEL mare SPARKLE AND SHINE. The gelding scored VERY HIGHLY on the biomechanics analysis that we use and rated as ELITE on that measure. He was also in the TOP 20 breeze-up times for the entire sale, clocking 10.26, faster than the top 3 lots of the sale that all went for $500,000+.

For our yearlings and 2YO sales this year, we have used the services of Tom Wilson at Racing2 to rate horses on the biomechanics of their walk as well as their pedigree analysis. This Dundeel gelding rated in the TOP LOTS for the entire sale on his walk, and was given a 95.71% ELITE WALK rating. As well as his walk, his pedigree rated VERY HIGHLY, which is no surprise given he is out of a half-sister SMART MELODY who won 5 races in a row and started as a very short favourite in the Group 1 Thousand Guineas.

This Dundeel gelding was in the TOP 20 fastest breeze-up times at the entire sale, clocking an ELECTRIC 10.26. To put this in perspective, this was a faster time than the top 3 sold lots at the sale, that all made $500,000+. He has plenty of growing and improvement to come, so to be moving that quickly already, is a terrific sign. Being by Dundeel, we would expect him to be getting over a bit of ground and with him showing this speedy turn of foot already, he looks a promising animal.

Our gelding is by DUNDEEL, a winner of 10 races races on the track, including 6 x Group 1’s. Not only was he a Group 1 racehorse, he has also left Group 1 progeny including CASTELVECCHIO, SUPER SETH and YOURDEEL. He is continuing to produce exciting progeny and in this season alone has had the exciting HOPE IN YOUR HEART win 2 x Group 3s, finish 4th in a Golden Eagle and 2nd in The Gong. Another exciting 3YO by Dundeel that has really impressed this season is ELLIPTICAL, finishing 2nd in both the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes and Group 1 Caulfield Guineas.

Out of the EXCEED AND EXCEL mare SPARKLE AND SHINE, who is a half-sister to the very talented SMART MELODY who won 5 races in a row. Of these 5 races, she won her first two by over 5 lengths, followed by a Listed and Group 2 victory before starting $2.15 in the Group 1 Thousand Guineas. There have been a long list of successful racehorses bred on the same High Chaparral / Danehill lines as our gelding including: YOUNGSTAR, ACE HIGH, SUPER SETH, TIVACI and more.

Our Dundeel gelding will spend the next month enjoying the lush pastures of New Zealand before making the trip over to Australia. From there, he will join the stables of GAVIN BEDGGOOD, who is absolutely airborne. We have had great success with Gavin so far, through our stable stars in KEATS ($25,000 purchase, returned $135,000) who lines up in a Group 3 this weekend and FIELD OF ROSES ($16,000 purchase, returned $100,00). Gavin is an outstanding trainer and also communicator, providing fantastic updates on where your horse is at each week.
