We have recently purchased lightly-raced, 2-time winning, 5-year-old mare LONDON POINT. She was purchased out of New Zealand by good judge Ozzie Kheir after winning her first two starts in excellent fashion. She is a half-sister to LONDON EXPRESS who won 7 races, including at Listed level. Her figures and starting price profile in Victoria are very strong and she will head to Queensland and be extremely competitive, with the opportunity to earn back her purchase price very quickly.

We were able to secure LONDON POINT for just $18,000 fall of hammer. We thought this was extremely good value, considering her breeding, race-track performances and expectation of the market for her races in Victoria. We had more budget to play with on this mare so we were delighted to pick her up for such a good price. She ticked a lot of boxes for us, her vet was perfect and although we think she would’ve been competitive in Victoria with a change of environment, we have opted to send her to Queensland where we think she can be highly competitive there and be a lot of fun for her owners.

LONDON POINT is by Champion sire Pins out of Handsome Ransom mare London Dream, making her a half-sister to Listed and 7-time winner London Express. Her two wins in New Zealand before being purchased to come to Australia were very strong performances and it’s no wonder that the previous owners wanted to get her over the Tasman. In her most recent preparation, she has started single figures on each occasion including twice on Wednesday in $50,000 races. The market expected her to win much more than she has and this is just part of the reason why we think she can go to Queensland and be winning plenty of races.

We have identified trainer Adam Campton at the Gold Coast as a perfect match for our mare. Although only being on the scene for a short time so far, Adam is getting excellent results, currently sitting 5th on the Queensland Provincial Trainers premiership, 2 wins off 2nd position and also at a strike-rate of 23.6% this season. Adam is a passionate, young trainer that will give our mare every opportunity to succeed from his Gold Coast base.

After purchasing London Point, we sent her to Caroline Price at Advika Park to have a short spell over the spring period. After completing her spell, she will begin her pre-training program with Caroline, someone we have had a lot of success with so far for the preliminary training of many of our horses. After she has a good, solid fitness base, she will head to the Gold Coast to get into full training with Adam Campton.

This is a great opportunity to get involved in racehorse ownership, for very little outlay and a horse that we know already has good ability. On her Victorian runs and starting price profile, she can go to Queensland and easily make her way through the grades.
