It was no surprise to receive multiple calls from the original ownership group as soon as the hammer went down on KATSU last week on Inglis Digital. We were thrilled to secure him at just $60,000 fall of hammer and it was a great sign of confidence to have some original owners reserve their share straight away.
KATSU was at the top of our list in the first sale for the year on Inglis Digital and we certainly thought we would have to pay more than what we got him for. He is an extremely fast, high-class sprinter that has already won 5 races, including at Listed level and earned over $330,000 in prize-money. He is very sound and we believe that a change of environment is exactly what he is after, to see him get back to his brilliant best for his new ownership group.
KATSU is a 5YO gelding that is lightly-raced, having had only 16 starts at the races. He has won 5 of these, including at Listed level and placed in another 2, also at Listed level. He is an on-pace runner that takes bad luck out of the equation and we believe he still has plenty of racing left in him. He has strong Victorian sprinting form around the likes of Najem Suhail, Sans Doute, Queman, Sweet Ride and more. With a Victorian rating of 90, he will be racing in $150,000 races at a minimum and if you want to be cheering your horse down the Flemington straight on a Saturday, this is a fantastic opportunity at excellent value.
He will be trained by the Victorian Premiership leading trainers, Ben, Will & JD Hayes at Lindsay Park Racing. Currently sitting 2 wins clear of Ciaron Maher Racing with 54 less runners, the Hayes brothers have certainly been successful the last few seasons. Their facilities at Lindsay Park Euroa are second to none and it is no surprise to see them getting the best results on the track.
KATSU has already arrived to King’s Park to commence his spell, before he spends a few weeks pre-training with Caroline Price at Advika Park and then onto full-training with Lindsay Park to prepare to be back at the races.
