We purchased this absolutely stunning SAVABEEL filly from the New Zealand Bloodstock Ready To Run Sales at Karaka last week. Our filly is a 3/4 sister to 3 winners including Group 1 Queensland Derby winner BRAMBLES. She will head to Gavin Bedggood in Victoria and he is thrilled to be receiving a filly of this quality into his Cranbourne stables. Our filly is a lovely type, she breezed up in excellent fashion and will have good residual value at the end of her racing career.

Our filly is by the CHAMPION New Zealand sire SAVABEEL, the stallion that has produced a long list of Group 1 winning progeny. On the track, as a 3-year-old Savabeel went back to back with Group 1 wins when taking out the Spring Champion Stakes and then the Cox Plate, beating the likes of Fields Of Omagh, Starcraft and Grand Armee. It is hard to imagine that Savabeel could be more well known for his off the track successes, but it is arguably the case, being an eight-time Champion New Zealand sire. He has been the sire of 27 Group 1 winners, including: Probabeel, Lucia Valentina, Mo’unga, The Chosen One and more.

This filly was bred by Waikato Stud, a farm that has produced 45 Group 1 winners. She is out of Fast ‘N’ Famous mare, Rehab, making her a 3/4 sister to Group 1 winner BRAMBLES. He won the Group 1 Queensland Derby before running 2nd to Lucia Valentina in the Group 1 Turnbull and finishing 4th, beaten by a length in the Caulfield Cup to Admire Rakti. Our filly is also a 3/4 sister to Lincoln Blue, a winner of 4 races including a Group 3 and Lopov, a winner of 7 races including a Listed victory. She will have great residual value and the end of her racing career and this would only be increased by what she can achieve on the track. Based on her pedigree and type, we believe our filly will be at her best in her 3-year-old year. Our long term targets are to target 3-year-old classic races such as the Oaks, which we think based on her breeding, will really suit her.

We are sending this filly to Cranbourne, to be trained by the airborne GAVIN BEDGGOOD. Only coming onto the training scene in recent years, Gavin has taken the Victorian training ranks by storm, taking horses that couldn’t win a race under their previous stables and giving them a new life and getting them to succeed on the track. We have had fantastic success with Gavin already through our stable stars Keats and Field Of Roses and are thrilled to be sending some high quality, young bloodstock to Gavin and we are excited to see what he can produce for us.

Our filly is currently enjoying the lush pastures of New Zealand and will head across to Australia in late November. She will then be given around a month to relax and recover from the sales and travel process. From there, she will enter the Cranbourne stables of Gavin Bedggood where he will start to educate her in training.
