We were delighted to pick-up CRUZ MISSILE, a Listed winning, stunning looking son of Champion sire Savabeel to send to Gavin Bedggood in Victoria. We have had enormous success with our tried horse purchases that we have sent to Gavin Bedggood, through the likes of Keats, Just Folk, Face The Jury, Lazy Susan and many more. Cruz Missile is at a rating that will be make him very easy to place in Victoria and we are confident his prize-money will cover his purchase price very quickly in our ownership.

CRUZ MISSILE was purchased by extremely good judge Bruce Perry as a yearling for $160,000 at the Karaka Yearling Sales in 2021. He had 6 starts in New Zealand, winning 2 of those, including the Listed Gingernuts Salver over 2100m. With his success across the Tasman, the ownership group sent him over to Annabel Neasham in New South Wales where he contested 4 races, all at BM78 level on Saturday, all worth $160,000. He simply wasn’t suited by the race shape on each of these occasions and with the combination of a change in environment, drop back in grade and a change of tactics, we think he can win at mid-week level before heading back to Saturday racing in Victoria. He is now a 68 rater which will give us plenty of options to get his confidence back up before we start to aim up at richer options in time.

As mentioned above in this email, we have had great success with our tried horse purchases that have been trained by Gavin Bedggood. We have listed a few of our success stories so far below:

Keats – $25,000 purchase / $453,000 prize-money / 4 wins
Face The Jury – $8,000 purchase / $95,000 prize-money / 3 wins
Field Of Roses – $16,000 purchase / $101,000 prize-money / 2 wins
Lazy Susan – $50,000 purchase / $77,000 prize-money / 2 wins
Just Folk – $199,000 purchase / $255,000 prize-money / 1 win

Cruz Missile has now departed New South Wales to make his way to Caroline Price at Advika Park in Victoria. With Caroline, he will complete a short spell before she prepares him to head into the stables of Gavin Bedggood at Cranbourne.
