“Nudge was a fantastic race mare, even better than her race record suggests, and generally it’s not possible for investors to get involved in stock of this quality,’’ Inglis Bloodstock CEO Sebastian Hutch said.
The win of Extremely Lucky (Extreme Choice x Tamarind Lane) in the Listed Lightning Stakes was simply breathtaking from the back so it was only fitting to take a closer look at the now 4-year-old gelding.
Exciting win by Extremely Lucky today in the Listed Lightning Stakes. Great training performance by@Clarken_Racing and a cool ride by @todd_pannell. Looking forward to the spring with this talented son of @NewgateFarm based Extreme Choice ⭐️ pic.twitter.com/xTf37c9xVK

By Extreme Choice, the hugely talented sire with well documented fertility issues, Extremely Lucky was withdrawn from both Magic Millions in January and Inglis Premier. Bought privately by Suman Hedge Bloodstock, the Will Clarken trained gelding is now being considered for the biggest sprint race in the country, The Everest. Extreme Choice is now putting together an outstanding list of progeny since going to stud in 2017, already achieving 18.6% Stakes-Winners to Runners.
Extremely Lucky is out of Stratum mare, Tamarind Lane, who although is unraced, has some very well known relatives. Tamarind Lane is out of King’s High mare Eastern Charm, the half-sister to Nicola Lass, most well known for being the dam of Nicconi. Tamarind Lane herself, is a half-sister to Group 1 winning Zip Zip Aray and Listed winning, Group 1 placed Zipanese.
A family full of speed and class, it’s no surprise Extremely Lucky is quickly looking like another superstar progeny of Extreme Choice.
Stallion Of The Week honours goes to the late sire Tavistock, who although passed away in 2019, his progeny is as active as ever in the Winners Circle.
We are devastated to report the sad passing of Tavistock today. He cast a giant shadow at Cambridge Stud and will be sorely missed. pic.twitter.com/lkrCGsY6gi

The late Tavistock has sired many of Group 1 winners including Volkstok ‘n’ Barrell, Weather, Infantry, Tarzino, Tavago and more recently Entriviere, Pinarello, Asterix and Johnny Get Angry. Despite tragically passing away in 2019, his progeny continue to make sure his memory is not forgotten by winning some of Australia and New Zealand’s biggest races.
Saturday was no different with Tavistock siring 3 winners across New Zealand, New South Wales and Queensland over a mix of distances of 1200m, 1400m and 2400m. Over in New Zealand, Windspeed (Tuesday’s Child) took out the 3YO Open 1400m race making it 2 in a row on very testing tracks. In Australia, both Molly Nails and Contrition saluted to give their sire yet another multiple winning weekend.
The @marshracing stable has CS graduate Windspeed in great form and she finished the season on a high @TeRapaRacing today. The 3YO daughter of Tavistock made it back-to-back wins and three in total for the season. https://t.co/1S84QpvqFi

Whilst highly regarded as a sire of Derby winners, there are several progeny of Tavistock showing their speed over shorter distances as well. Entriviere a great example of this, a Group 1 winner of 1200m and was even considered an Everest chance a year ago.

A versatile stallion with plenty of progeny out there that I’m sure will continue to honour his legacy.
